About Youth Hardship Fund

The Youth Hardship Fund, funded by the 'Plymouth Drake Foundation’, has been set up to support young people of Plymouth when they are facing times of hardship and are unable to access financial assistance from other sources.

Who is the YHF for?

The fund is for young people aged between 16 and 25 years (although in exceptional cases this can be flexible) living in and around Plymouth.

How can the YHF be used?

The YHF is administered by, and at the discretion of, The Zone but it needs to be when timely funds are not available from other sources i.e. statutory services.

The fund can be used:

  • In times of crisis; for example: arrears in essential household bills; costs linked to keeping children safe; travel; top up for telephone; certain goods or essential furniture
  • For personal development; for example: interview clothes; materials required to support a course (i.e. books, equipment, IT).
