Emergency Contraception (morning after pill)
Emergency contraception can be used if a contraceptive method fails (for example a condom splits or a pill is forgotten or taken late) or no contraception is used.
Emergency contraception is more effective the sooner after sex it is taken it is important that you seek emergency contraceptive advice as quickly as possible.
Emergency contraception is available free from:
- Sexual Health drop ins at The Zone
- Community Contraception and Sexual Health Service (CCASH) Cumberland Centre Clinics
- Your GP surgery
- Your SHIP (GUM clinic based at Derriford Hospital)
- Plymouth Pharmacies who are part of the EHC scheme provide free emergency contraception to young people aged 13 - 24. Please call the pharmacy before attending to ensure that they are able to issue emergency contraception. Pharmacies include Boots at Drake's Circus (01752 266271) and Kingstreet Pharmacy (01752 662712)
