Care Quality Commission (CQC)

Who are the Care Quality Commission?

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are the independent regulator of all health and adult social care services in England.

The CQC's aim is to make sure better care is provided for everyone.

They have four main roles:

Registration - Insight and Icebreak are registered with CQC.
Monitoring - They make sure we are delivering a quality service.
Enforcement - of standards where services are not good  enough.
Improvement - through regular reviews of services to check they are up to standard.

How do they make sure services are of good quality?

Every service registered with CQC needs to show how they meet a set of standards. Both Insight and Icebreak meet these standards.

Standards are checked at registration and regularly inspected on a continual basis.

Inspections can be planned, unplanned or they can happen because someone has complained about the service they have received.

When CQC inspect a service they focus on what people who use the service think of it.

They may also meet with and talk to people working with the service to make sure they understand what the support you receive is like.

You can see what CQC think of your service by checking on their website.
